  1. Treyarch had 2 betas for World at War (one private and one public) and they released their game with tons of geo-glitches; many of which people submitted bug reports concerning.

    I still think the majority of problems that MW2 has suffered from have been as a result of console hackers, and not in game coding issues. Sure, the Javelin glitch and the care package issues could have been resolved prior to release if there had been a public beta i suppose.

    Either way, the industry has moved towards this ideology of releasing unfinished products, primarily because the current generation of gamers will buy them.

    Developers and publishers would never get away with half the stuff they do today (i.e. DLC) if consumers refused to purchase unfinished games or buggy products. Add to that, falling development budgets, mass outsourcing and stifled creativity, and you have the industry in the state it is today.

    That right there is unfortunately probably the most accurate observation. This shows developers & publishers that all they need to make happy is the uneducated mindless sheep. If you make them, who are the majority, happy, then you've got a blockbuster. When it's time & money vs. quality, quality will always lose.
